 2 Manatees in the Hopkins Canal I am always amazed by how much life there is in this area. Not a day goes by without seeing a Manatee swimming past the backyard. Most times, all you see is the wake left from a tail; just a little boil in the water. They seem to wander up to the end of the canal in the day, then work their way back to the bay in the evening. We have dubbed this the "Manatee Parade."
 Looking south out to the bay with Ding Darling wildlife refuge in sight. As you can see, it is a short 4 minute boat ride out to the open water. My morning ritual consists of making a pot of coffee and taking an early cruise out to the middle bay, enjoying the wildlife and scenery.
During astronomically low tide cycles, the sand bars that run parallel to the shoreline are exposed. These shoals are the perfect place to take the dogs for an afternoon run.  G&T Time We left Long Island yesterday, and we are ready to relax. Snapper is looking forward to a nice cool cocktail. Back in New York they are having a cool and rainy Memorial Day weekend, while it is sunny and 85 here!
