I am always amazed by how much life there is in this area. Not a day goes by without seeing a Manatee swimming past the backyard. Most times, all you see is the wake left from a tail; just a little boil in the water. They seem to wander up to the end of the canal in the day, then work their way back to the bay in the evening. We have dubbed this the "Manatee Parade." During astronomically low tide cycles, the sand bars that run parallel to the shoreline are exposed. These shoals are the perfect place to take the dogs for an afternoon run.
